Picking sides
Rule of Thirds
Rule of thirds is an idea and "rule" that most photographers like to go by. Some people believe that it gives the picture a little more excitement. I believe it is "easier" and better to look at than a picture with the subject right in the middle. The presents are one of the intersections, and Santa's face is just at the edge of it. The presents are at the right side of the picture. You can still see the background, it's blurred, and somewhat empty. It's almost as if the pictures are just waiting for someone.
In order to put the lines onto the top picture, I went onto Gimp and chose the pencil tool. I used brush 11 at 1 pt. and then I put the lines where the thirds would be. To make the line straight I clicked where I wanted the line to start then I held shift and drug the cursor to where I wanted the line to end.
